An all-Cuban team would be niiiiiiice. Their national team, even without exhiles, can play ball with anyone in the world and sometimes beat American squads in exhibitions. But I bet old Fidel would demand to become owner, manager, and part-time first basemen. Plus his dirty ass would bet on the game and ruin the integrity of a crew of slaves competing fairly against millionaires.
Red Sox just signed Tony Womack to a minor League deal. I am now getting more afraid of the Red Sox. This trend of guys taking less to play there has got to stop. The Yankees haven't won a world series in at least five year, leave us and our billion dollar payroll alone. Whenever they find a way to move Manny and Nomar for A-Rod and whoever else, then I will be really afraid. UNtil then I am banking on these two guys feeling neglected and making the dugout hell on earth next year. I have to have this hope for them to collapse somehow, somehow.

mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/mlb/news/mlb_news.jsp?ymd=20040126&content_id=630960&vkey=news_mlb&fext=.jspAaron Boone, a.k.a. New Guy in the Yankee History Book, is apparently going to miss the season after injuring his knee playing basketball. Even worse, this was in direct violation of some terms in his contract and he may find himself unemployed as a result. Brian Cashman said: "I can confirm that the Yankees have been notified by his representatives that third baseman Aaron Boone suffered an injury to his left knee while playing basketball. We are currently evaluating the extent of the injury and expect to solicit multiple opinions before providing a complete diagnosis. Concerning his contract, I can confirm that there are certain prohibited activities which include basketball. I will not comment further on his contract situation at this time." This, to me, means that anything can happen. From moving Soriano to third, to trading for A-Rod, to trading for some more All-Stars. The Boss ain't having this shit, I guarantee that much. I won't miss Boone, as I have hardly been impressed by him overall, but I fear whoever is to replace him and the knowledge that we sacrifriced our greatest pitching prospect for this guy. Miguel Cairo, Enrique Wilson, Erick Almonte, and even Drew Henson are now in the running to play third. However, I bet George makes it interesting with a move or two. newyork.yankees.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/nym/news/nym_news.jsp?ymd=20040126&content_id=630905&vkey=news_nym&fext=.jspIn other news, Hideki Matsui literally received a Good Guy Award. He is here to stay. I like him. He's not the greatest, but I like him. Clutch hitter in playoffs for us too. I thought he could have kept playing center too.

I SAW THE METS HAD A KIDS DAY FOR THE VICTIMS OF 9/11. THE SENT REYES AND MATSUI NEITHER OF WHICH SPEAK ENGLISH.
THE YANKS NEED NOT WORRY ABOUT THE STANK SOX BECAUSE THEY JUST SUCK. IT DONT MATTER WHO THEY GET OR WHO TAKES A CUT IN PAY. IF THE WHOLE TEAM DOESNT BAT .300 THEY ARE NOTHING.

I liked boone, I lied him before but did not think of him as a yankee. However the walk off homerun prsuaded my sentimental ass. But yeah i think the boss will go big for someone else. If they just stick Luis sojo at 3rd i will crap myself.

I am reading articles stating something along the lines of Yankee power being about pitching and they need all the defensive help they can get, so they might keep a no-named dude at 3rd for the season - much like how left field was a rotating who's who of the Yankee farm system for the 90s teams.
Besides the real problems will be injuries. If any starters go down, seriously bad news. If Giambi goes and Tony fucking Clark is the Yankee first baseman I will scream until I pass out wake up and repeat until it ends. Now a Mike Piazza C/1st back-up slash DH, that's a smart thing to get on board if they could. Then again Bernie is DH already and Ruben Sierra is just hanging around getting paid for something.
Oh yeah, that shit about Reyes and Metsui being at childrens event is hilarious - typical Mets. Organization can't do anything right I tell ya. I do root for them since they are New York team, but it is too comical the blunders of their team.

This is what you look like when you are mad rich general manager of the Yankees. They signed some guy named Lamb from Texas, who I have actually heard of. He was a prospect once, sort of like Tyler Houston who the Yankees signed too. Nothing to hope for here. Talented guys, but not Posada-Jeter-Giambi-Sheffield-Soriano talent.

Alfonso Soriano is my favorite baseball player. When my dad bought me my first Yankee jersey ever (for wedding), I picked his number. Hell, I nearly invited him to the wedding! But Alex Rodriguez is the best player in at least the American League and it would be hard to fault the Yanks for trading Soriano to get him. It just breaks my heart. I read about this on MLB.com, not joeblow.com, so this is a very real trade rumor. mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/mlb/news/mlb_news.jsp?ymd=20040214&content_id=637189&vkey=news_mlb&fext=.jsp

The yankees always do this and i hate it. They tade away a home grown beloved yankee bad ass to get a guy whose a little better. If its all the same i'll keep our guy every time. But it has worked to our benefit almost always.
PS- NO ONE CAN BEAT BOSTON EVER

Here are your 2004 Yankees (as of today): C: Jorge Posada back-up: Joe Girardi and John Flaherty 1st: Jason Giambi back-up: Tony Clark 2nd: Joe Blow, take your pick from Enrique Wilson, Miguel Cairo, Erick Almonte, Tyler Houston, Mike Lamb, and even Aaron Boone later in the season if they dont void his contract after injuring himself 3rd: Alex Rodriguez SS: Derek Jeter I make a bet the question of who plays where in the infield doesn't ever ever ever ever go away. A-Rod has two Golden Gloves as a shortstop and Jeter is error-prone, but ranking captain of the Yanks. Left: Hideki Matuis Center: Kenny Lofton Right: Gary Sheffield DH: Bernie Williams Back-ups: Bubba Crosby, Ruben Sierra
Line-up as projected at present: 1. Lofton, CF 2. Jeter, SS 3. A-Rod, 3rd 4. Giambi, 1st 5. Sheffield, RF 6. Posada, C 7. Matsui, LF 8. Bernie, DH 9. Enrique Wilson, 2nd
Rotation: Kevin Brown, Javier Lopez, Mike Mussina, Jose Contreras, Jon Lieber Bullpen: Paul Quantrill, Scott Proctor, Tom "Flash" Gordon, Felix Heredia, Gabe White, and Mr. Mo himself; Mariano Rivera.
Goddamn. The worst part is that they nearly recruited free agent Luis Castillo from the Florida Marlins over the off-season. If that happened they would literally have had an all-star player at every position and some riding the pine to spare.

Well when you put it like thatit dont look so bad. I am such a spoiled yankee fan. But the pitching is what really scares me. But perhaps we'll score like 20 runs a game.

Despite rumors of Greg Maddux signing in NY and a deal for an elite second baseman, as it stands the Yankees field a team of 17 guys with all-star experience. Major league rosters are 25. THERE IS NO DOUBT MORE PITCHING WILL COME. Who and when only time will tell. King George ain't going out like that, he's doubliing down like a motherfukcer every way he can this year.
Courtesy of stats from ESPN, yours truly, the Yankee Soriano fan provides these insights: "Only six players in the whole sport have outhomered Soriano over the last two years. Only two have scored more runs. No one has spewed more extra-base hits." I'm keeping my damn jersey for the day when Soriano turns free agent and returns to NY to reclaim his legacy (only as the centerfielder.

Paraphrasing press conference here but A-Rod said something like, Jeter has 4 rings and I want him to get ten, so I'm here to help him. Dude is signed for seven years and stating a goal of winning six world series for the Yankees. HOLY FARGING APE SHIITE
