In Thursday, June 24th's New York Times, there is a cover story on Arnold's governorship. This is a direct quote from the article as it appears on Page 1 and is then continued on pA20.
"Asked to describe his governing philosophy seven months after toppling Gray Davis in California's recall election, he [Arnold] said, 'Crush your enemies, see them driven before you and hear the lamentation of their women.'

He stopped himself, 'Wait a minute, that's Conan,' he said, 'I stepped out of character here for a second.' How can you not love this man? More Americans for Arnold Schwatzenegger ;D ;D ;D

Sorry for the repeat, I have no idea how that happened. It's never happened to me before. I feel so inadequate.... Here's something else that's just crazy. In the NY Post today, there was an article that detailed how the new Jets Stadium will actually ALLEVIATE Sunday football traffic. Since the stadium will be in Manhattan, a poll was taken of Jets season ticket holders and most people said that they would take mass transit to the games. Of those polled who would drive, they outlined their specific route and documented specifically how many cars would be on what roads, bridges and tolls to get to the games, the number was ridiculously low, like 300 cars on each road, bridge, tunnel and toll. Now that's crazy.

WHERE DID YOU SEE THE JETS ARE GOIGN TO PUT UP THE OTHER $600 MIL? SORRY BUT THIS IS NOT THE CASE WHICH IS MY MAIN POINT. THE JETS ARE LOOKING TO GET APPROVAL AND MONEY FROM THE STATE WHICH HAPPENS TO DIRECTLY EFFECT MY PAY CHECK. THEN THEY WILL BE LOOKING FOR PRIVATE CONTRIBUTIONS FOR MOST OF THE REST(THE JETS HAVE NO PLAN FOR PUTTING UP ANY MONEY, THEY ARE LOOKING TO SEE HOW MUCH GETS HANDED TO THEM.

IT IS AN INVESTMENT THAT WILL PAY OFF FOR THE CITY BUT NOT THE STATE?
INTRESTING STATEMENT BEING THEY ARE LOOKING FOR THE STATE TO PUT UP MORE THAN HALF THE MONEY. THAT I HOW YOU CAN TELL ITS A REPUBLICAN IDEA.
LETS PUT IT LIKE THIS AND SEE IF YOU CAN SEE WHERE IM COMING FROM: THE JETS ARE GOING TO BUILD A STADIUM AT THE DUTCHESS MALL. THE STATE WANTS THE CITY OF NY TO PUT UP HALF THE MONEY AND THE REST WILL BE RAISED. THEN THE STATE GETS TO COLLECT ON THE TAXES WHILE THE CITY SEES NOTHING (MAYBE A RETURN ON THIER INITIAL $600 MIL.)
SOUNDS LIKE ME GIVING YOU $600 MIL SO ROB G CAN COLLECT ON THE INVESTMENT. COOL PLAN.
BUT DONT WORRY ITS ONLY GOING TO ADD 300 CARS TO THE ROAD WAYS.(THEY FORGOT TO MENTION THAT WAS JUST ALL THOSE PEOPLES CARS WHO GOT A NEW JOB WHILE THEY BUILD IT.)

LAST BUT NOT LEAST PLEASE DONT EVER COMPARE THE JETS TO THE RAIDERS. WE MOVE FROM PLACE TO PLACE SO WE CAN GIVE EVERYONE A CHANCE AT A CHAMPIONSHIP.
I BELIEVE 2 IN OAKLAND AND 1 IN L.A. WHILE THE JETS HAVE 1 PERIOD. SO LIKE IS SAID BEFORE WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU GOT YOUR MONIES WORTH WATCHING THE JETS? WHEN THE RAIDERS KNOCKED YOU OUT OF THE PLAYOFFS IN OAKLAND OR L.A?(WELL WE KNOW IT WASNT LA BEING THE JETS DIDNT HAVE A WINNING SEASON THE WHOLE TIME WE WERE IN LA.

Gee, let's see. There is at least one article in the NY Post, The Daily News, and, oh yeah, the NY Times detailing a new development concerning the stadium every three to four days. Try reading the article all the way to the end. The Jets are putting up 600 million, end of story. I posted the concept of the decreased traffic on the Crazy Things thread because the concept is just that, CRAZY! HELLO! If the Jets ever build a stadium at the Dutchess Mall, I'm becoming a Giants fan. OK, so the Raiders knocked us out? You didn't win the Superbowl that year either, and when it comes down to it, that's all that counts, especially in this era of free agency. Since you like the Raiders so much, why don't you move to California? You won't have to entertain these paranoid delusions that Pataki, Bloomberg and Woody Johnson are going to knock down your door in the middle of the night and steal all your belongings, and mug you just to build a stadium 70 miles away from you.

THEY DONT HAVE TO KNOCK DOWN MY DOOR WHEN THEY HAVE DIRECT ACCESS TO MY CHECK JUST LIKE THE REST OF THE STATE.
ANYWAY THE CRAZIEST THING IS THE JETS SUCK AND UNTIL THEY CONTEND THEY SHOULDNT GET SHIT. I JUST HOPE ONE DAY THE LOSER BILLS GET A NEW STADIUM AND THEY MAKE JETS SEASON TICKETS GO UP TO FUND IT.
LET ME ASK YOU THIS CAN WE AFFORD TO FUND A NEW STADIUM FOR THE NETS TOO?
THAT MEANS MOST OF THE UNEMPLOYED IN NEW YORK SHOULD SOON HAVE A JOB BETWEEN THE TO NEW STADIUMS RIGHT?

Actually, by your own admission, as someone who is in a very low income bracket, you will actually pay less taxes overall then I would to fund the stadium. So chill out on the "OH MY GOD, THE GOVERNMENT IS KILLING ME WITH TAXES TO FUND WORTHLESS PROJECTS" crap.
Obviously, not all the unemployed will suddenly be employed by the two new stadiums, but people will be employed! It sounds like your philosophy is: if everybody isn't employed, if everybody makes out on the deal, if faeries come and build the stadiums for free and no one whatsoever is inconvenienced in any way, shape or form, then we shouldn't move forward.
That type of mentality gets the human race no where. I've already detailed how Jets stadium will help New York so I'm not going to repeat myself, but there are other considerations. NY is the mecca of the planet and we have no stadiums? That's ludicrous. NY has to move forward, not stagnate.
I hope all the Raiders fall and break their hips, or maybe finally succumb to alzheimer's disease. ;D ;D ;D

I wouldn't mind the Bills playing there. I have always had a soft spot in my heart for the Bills as the only NY team that actually plays in NY. I don't think Buffalo fans would appreciate it though. Hopefully this stadium will change all that and the Jets will be the second NY team to play in NY. If JBOY has his way though the Jets will be playing at the bottom of the Hudson River.
