CONCERNING LIMBAUGH AND THIUS BUSINESS:
I have zero problem with what Rush Limbaugh said. And neither did anyone else until days later. Heres what he said. I am paraphrasing here.
Rush: "I think the media has been desirious to have a black quarterback do well. He got alot of credit he did not deserve because the defense kept the team going".
What he was trying to say is that the media makes a big hype over mcnabb because he is black and the stereotype holds that black quarterbacks are never good. Limbaugh was explaining that Mccnabb is not the biggest strength of the eagles and that the defense is.
I dont know if i fully agree with him but he might be right. The eagles had equal amount of success with every quarterback they have used. Remember Coy detmer was a hero.
Either way i dont think teh comment was racially motivated. I dont even like rush limbaugh but i got to defend him on this.
But the fact is that the Black power structure holds sway through the ability to pull the race card. White politicians have to back them up otherwise they are racists. The ball keeps moving and soon your damned. Anytime you say anything that anyway could be constued as saying something bad about someone black weather it be true or not they start this junk. It is a travesty.

Well, I was shocked and surprised when I turned on ESPN at the beginning of the football season and found Rush Limbaugh sitting on the set with all these great FOOTBALL commentators. I wasn't too happy with seeing Rush sitting there offering lame opinions on a subject that he frankly, didn't know anything about. Personally, I like to keep my football and my politics separate. Football is emotionally charged, with the potential for supreme letdown or extreme highs but in the end, football is fun, we don't have anything at stake (I'm not counting having money on the games). Politics on the other hand, is a deep philosophical issue because we do have something at stake, our own country and thoughts, ideas and philosophies on how it should be run. It is emotionally charged and has the potential to get in the way of a fun thing like football. You know me, I'm a conservative republican but I would rather not have had Rush anywhere near the ESPN Countdown crew. As for Rush's comments? I agree with you totally of course. This is a free country and we all have the right to say what we want to say. I believe white people are too scared to say what is correct when it comes to blacks because of the race card. I applaud Rush for having the werewithal and the balls to say it. By the way, the producers of ESPN Countdown got JUST WHAT THEY WERE LOOKING FOR! Controversy. They brought Rush on to the set because evereyone knows that he can be a wildcard. Well, ESPN got that wildcard but weren't man enough to stick with their decision. And F*ck Tom Jackson if he didn't have the balls to reply and his feelings were hurt. I like Tom Jackson but don't be a baby about it. That was a typical black response to this whole bullsh*t racial thing.

1. ESPN wanted this type of hype. They knew they were getting something like this when they brought Rush in there like that. Then they set him off to the side with his own little table and let him usher challengers to ex-Pro Bowl players. Now they are total puussies for not sticking with him, as Ken points out. 2. I saw it live and did not think it was a racist comment. By the way the other guys reacted, neither did they. As ROb points out, nothing was made of it until days later. 3. I don't agree with him about McNabb's talent, I think he is a good QB, but that is immaterial. He made a pefectly legitimate argument that McNabb was overrated. Had he not mentioned race, no one would ever know he said peep. 4. I do see where someone could get the idea that black QBs get extra props in the media. There IS without a shadow of a doubt a concerted effort to get more blacks into position of power in the pro sport leagues and the examination of hiring processes and required interviews with minority candidates reflects this. I don't really understand why this is such a priority, but it is. I do suspect that postulating that blacks are competent throwing QBs (not just the rushing) is perhaps an effort to advance the idea that blacks can also get into upper management. I don't know, there's black guys coaching already though, but the upper ranks is probably what they are aiming for. 5. This was only an issue because people are stupid. All anyone heard was Rush refer to McNabb as a black QB, and that's all it took. As if white people are disallowed from addressing racial issues whatsoever. I blame the American educational system on this one. People no comprende. People stupid. People no edumacated for some talk more smart them than. Thing too big for small mind. Me hear' em race, me call 'em racist. 6. I hate that it is always about black people. Hispanic people never get discriminated against? Asians? What about the Native Americans? Just once I want to hear Connie Chung demand more Chinese coaches in the NFL. Why not? Is that any less valid than asking for more black coaches? 7. I do not hate black people. I have some black friends. I don't call them that, I call then friends. Period. Just like McNabb should be a QB. Period. I personally feel like the racial distinctions are far less than some would have us believe. Especially with racial and social mixing over the course of the past 500 years. I am all for the color-blind approach as proposed in California, by a BLACK politician. Throw out the quotas, ignore the race aspect, and advance as a mothr-fcking civilization already is my motto.

Link to article critical of ESPN, complete with a full transcript of the comments made by Rush: mensnewsdaily.com/archive/a-e/chapin/03/chapin100403.htmAddendum: This guy is right, us ND fans actually loved the new coach and bragged about everything he did until that Michigan game. But there is no such thing as an ND fan rooting for them to lose, the idea is idiotic.

Buck is correct in terms of the NFL trying to get Blacks into the upper management echelons of the NFL. The Nfl IS ACTIVELY ENCOURAGING THE HIRING OF BLACK COACHES, A LA hERM eDWARDS. It doesn't matter that these coaches, a la Herm Edwards are not coach worthy material, at least in the Jets case, but Jets management were pressured to hire and at the very least, interview black candidates. Give me a fcking break here. Aren't there enough gifted and talented black athletes making more money that a whole cityload of white people. They have to actively decrease the ranks of whites in football? In coaching? Where's MY affirmative action? Stupid me! I missed the first few minutes of Sunday Countdown yesterday. Somebody tell me what was said about Rush or does anybody have a link to an article that states what was said. I know Tom Jackson had a few things to say right?

Hey nasinator,
If you go to bucks link you will see what limbaugh said. Theres not much there, it was only like 2 sentences.
Anyway, I really liked what the guy in bucks article had to say. Good stuff. The lions were blasted and fined for immediatly hiring Steve Mariuchi only becuase they did not hire or interveiw a black coach. They did not interveiw anyone. The Lions GM whose name i cant remember right now played on the 49ers and loves Mariuchi both personally and professionally.
Did you know the 49ers held a mock interveiwing process just to clear themselves of such an instance. They interveiw 10 guys, 4 of which were black. When the interveiws were over they immediatly announced Dennis Ericson as ew coach. He was never named nore interveiwed. That was great.
What i dont get is that the whole league is black. Why are there not mandates that whites, or chinese be interveiwed for player positions. Because whites inherited the universe and deserve nothing. And as far as all other minority groups. None of them have the enormous power structure of the blacks. The black infrastructure has gropwn so powerful that they own the world racism.
There are more hispanics in this country then blacks. What about them. I have always maintained that the largest minority is not even a monority. WOMEN.
How many women owners and ocaches are there. Why are they not interveiwed. Wait, women cant play in the nfl nor is there a females nfl.
Back to Rush Limbaugh: Yeah i thought it was very very strange when i saw him on the countdown. Especially in the prsence of Chris berman, tom jackson. steve young, and that black guy. ha ha ha. I'm sure they thought it was goood idea but i cant imagine them trying to get this outrageousness.
Concerning the back QB thing: The media always makes it a bigger deal when someone of the unual sort makes a big effort in a position. It works both ways. Brian Urlacher gets mad porps. Tiger woods is another one. How bout Jason williams in basketball. I think that was his name.
RUSH LIMBAUGH FOR PRESIDENT.
PS- I just got a wireless keyboard and mouse. Cheap and great.

Yeah I forgot to mention that they TOTALLY do the opposite with white guys in other sports and it is A-OK. Thanks for pointing that out Robby. The great white hype in boxing will forever be the shining example. And guys talk about it openly, but that admitting of over-rating the athlete for race is deemed acceptable in that case. Jason Williams a.k.a White Chocolate was 10000% overrated and everyone knows why and we all admit it. People always said that about Larry Bird.
I do think that the Williams sisters and Tiger Woods would get the same level of covering and attention as they do for their talent alone. Their dominance overshadows anything of their skin tone.
And I still think Rush was wrong. Not racist, but wrong in underestimating McNabb.
There is more of this looming on the horizon. Gary Sheffield came out a while ago and called all MLB baseball teams racist because the number of blacks is the lowest as a percentage of the total players since they intergrated. Anyone with a working brain could tell you the same holds for whites. The phenomenon is due to more Asians and Latinos playing the game at a professional level. Hispanic people dominate baseball. Who cares? It's the talent that is important. But does baseball get props for its multinationalism or ethnic diversity? Nope, just criticism about black employment. I do not understand.
Lastly, those minority interviews are really a crock. As Rob said, these teams already know who is out there and many probably will make their decision regardless of how many other interviews there are. I remember the 49ers deal, and it was so flagrant, since they never even announced Erickson as being on the interview list. I don't understand why the NFL is pushing for these poor black guys to get meaningless interviews. It's like a pat on the ass or something. I mean, even if they think this is an issue worth addressing, the measly required interview process does absolutely nothing to resolve it.
Hey, remember when this thread used to be about football? Let me tell you how awesome my Goon Squad is doing. And the Purple People Eaters are finally getting their act together this season, Chris Carter gone and everything. But, I still think the Bucs are doing it again. This game with the Colts should either prove or disprove that theory.

Im glad to see Ken and Buck on the message board. I was surprised to see Rush on ESPN. I agree with what both of you said, Rush should not have slandered my negro thats my job as he has not scored more than 10 points for Fantasy Football. He should take my other negro Priest Holmes example and score "The Man" some points. Rush is a radical and his opinions are important to see both sides of the story like the Eagles defense is the reason for their success I guess he'll just go back to his radio job. I post again some other time this being my first time just to see if it works. I still cant log on but you know IM an IDIOT!!! PEACE

Peyton Manning is the best QB this year. WHAT A COMEBACK.
It is a shame that the victory came down to kicking and penalties, since I hate kicking in football in any form and that Simeon Rice "leaping" penalty was total garbage, but you just know that the Colts were going to win this game in OT one way or another. Holy crap did they come from behind. It seemed to be the Buc defense got all soft in the 4th Quarter and got stuck playing on their heals and were totally spent by the end. They should be ashamed of themselves for this one.
Brian Ring, welcome to the discussion, hope you come back often and add to the diversity of the group you minority. HAHA. Seriously though, it is good to see more people posting.

HEY HEY JOHNNY RINGO IN THE HOUSE,
Its about time dude. I notice you already have 2 seperate member accounts on this board. But welcome to the party pal.
THE COLTS ARE INSANE.
I watched the first half of this crappy game as the Bucs batch slapped the colts arround. I leave larrys house and dont even bother turning the game on when i get home cause i dont care to see a blowout. Instead i watch jackies favorite show "will and grace" which i hate. And then i log on computer and see the score. My god man. Like buc said ofcourse the colts had to win in OT.
In other news i was beating papo in fantasy till marvin harrison scored 2 tds and recieved for 176 yards. Brutal. But all praise be to the colts and their BIG BLACK HEAD COACH. You know the one they fired in tampa bay for not producing an offense. MAD BEEF YO.
Hey hey San Fran won a football game. Perhpas not all is lost.

The colt's were ment to win that game. Leaping What? And then on the second kick a defender got a hand on it and directed an otherwise wide kick to hit the poll and go in. I love revenge and Dungy got it.

Yeah man, they should not kick to hall. I'm thinking maybe no one should ever kick to hall. The guy is too damn good. Maybe the best thing to do is to kick the ball out of bounds. I mean they get it at the 40 but its better then that basterd scoring.
