So Gygax is doing Q&A over at Enworld message boards. Finally i get to ask the master the questions i need answers to. Atleast a few. Most of these have to do with Greyhawk as that wa sgarys first world was has undergone many transmutations since gary left. So i took a chance and basically asked him like 12 questions. He actually responded to every question. But really only answered 2 of them. Gary sucks. Oh i made sure to ask the questions in code so that i did not say any Wizards copyrighted names and such, I have attached the Q&A having reentered the real names so you people could under stand. Now go and see what a cock gary gygax is. ------------------------------ Quote: Originally Posted by foehammerxOk Gary, Here it comes.I still DM and will always DM your original D&D world. (I wrote this to soften him up for my interrogation)
GARY Who knows? i surely can't say...
Quote: Is Mordenkainen Lawful Good and if so why does he strive to maintain balance with his group of wizards. Or is he manipulting the others to do good under the guise of mainatining nuetrality.
GARY No. Mordenkainen is Neutral, although he tends to prefer Good over Evil, Chaos over Law.
Quote: Vecna, Is he your creation. Is he the first lich, Was he arround or involved with the Twin Caticlisms.
Gary Brian blume made uo the artifacts with the name "Vecna." All after that was devised by who knows which persons. In any event, as the term "lich" is found in dictionaries, Vecna could not be the first of that sort.
Quote: Is Graz’zt the father of Iuz? (This is bone of contewntion as D&D says Graz’zt is IUZ father while in the old days it was believed to be Orcus.
GARY I hardly think so.
Quote: Do you still run games in your original D&D world and if so, IN YOUR HOME GAME what has become of The overking Ivid of the Great Kingdom?
GARY No, seldom if ever do i run O/AD&D game sessions on the WoG. Once the setting passed from my hands I lost interest in it.
Quote: What about The mayor of Greyhawk city? What about the circle of 8 wizards and mordenkainen? What about Iuz?And what about Iggwilv?
GARY See above
Quote: Who do you think is the best game designer other then you?
GARY I don't make that sort of value judgement. It is best left to others.
Quote: What about Monte Cook?
GARY He has many avid fans.
Quote: What are Immortals of the 5 spheres and what is their relation to dieties? (This is an original D&D concept that never made it into the later 4 versions of D&D)
GARY I give up.
Quote: Who is the oldest and greatest power in the multiverse, is there THE ONE?
GARY Depends on whose campaign setting is in question. As for any that i have done there is no such individual.
Quote: What do you consider the best source of what actually occurred in the twin catyclisms?
GARY I don't consider the matter at all. That is up to WotC.
Quote: What do you consider your very best Module?
GARY That question is very much akin to asking which os my favorite child...
Quote: Is there a better place for me to aquire these answers?
GARY For some of the questions that's quite likely!
Quote: PS: Eternal thanks for opening the portal to endless adventure
GARY Think nothing of it. It was my pleasure to share the enjoyment.
Cheers, Gary

He so totally responds to anything that goes along the lines of stroking his ego. Then he totally refuses to answer meaningful questions unless they pertain to his Lejendary Adventures. I mean, the guy can't crack a compliment for Monte Cook? If not, take a shot at him, the answer "he has many avid fans" is not an answer. Why even bother? I'm glad I gave him shit on his web site that one time.

Yeah, I dont know what is problem is. Here is my second round of questions for him.
The first time arround he answered 2 of 13 questions 1 out of 7 questions were answered this time arround
-----------------------------------
Quote: Hello again Gary,
It appears to me that you are perhaps not comfortable answering questions pertaining to Greyhawk. I am more curious about the campaign as you ran it and not the published stuff. But if its simply a matter of absolutely zero interest in revisiting concepts from over 20 years ago. I will leave you in peace.
GARY It is the property of WotC, and as such it is up to them to discuss, not me.
Quote: What Level was Mordenkainen when last you played him as PC or NPC?
GARY I don't discuss my PCs, as now and then I play htem.
Quote: In your home GREYHAWK campaign what was the biggest most high level epic extravaganza you ever ran?".
GARY Never did we get into anything of that sort.
Quote: Was Orcus the father of IUZ in your campaign? (If not, who?)
GARY No. The parentage of Iuz was not discussed (I do believe this is bullshti)
Quote: If all your creative works were destroyed and all that remained was one adventure. Which adventurer would you prefer it be?
GARY Rephrasing a question i have already declined to answer will not get any other response.

Q1: Gary can I suck your cock? A1: Go ahead my friend! Q2: Gary, do you have an opinion of any other current game designer? A2: No
Q1: Gary, where was the insiration for the cleric class? A1: Books I read, I am a genius, blah, blah, mace, spells, blah Q2: Gary, where was the inspiration for the ranger class, the halfling race, the ent monster, the worg monster, and elvish runes? A2: Please consult with Wizards of the Coast about their products.

GARY Maybe you should ask different sorts of questions...
Quote: Robilar was totally evil. How or why did the other PCs in yours/robs campaign allow this and not seek to end him?
GARY Robilar, Terik, and Erac's Cousin became Lawful Evil. Mordenkainen as Neutral had no reason to assail them as long as they didn't cross the line with him. The other PCs of Good alignment in the game were quite lacking the power to take out those three characters.
Quote: Where did Rary come from?
GARY He fell out of the rear end of a horse... Seriously, that was a weak PC created by Brian Blume, a magic-user that was dropped when he became 3rd level, Medium Rary--and yes, I am being serious.
Quote: Where did Lemund come from, and what became of him?
GARY Why are you asking me all these questions? LEomund is Len Lakofka's PC, so ask him!
Quote: Could you elaborate on what any of these guys wereRiggby, Felnorith, Siggby, Diggby (a dwarf), and the elves Vram and Vin.
GARY I can elaborate to the extent that they are all PCs of mine. Sigby Grigbyson is the correct name, and the main dwarf is Zigby. You left out Slidell of Fax and Curley Greenleaf. All the "by" suffix names were forced on my by DM Rob Kuntz because i had so many PCs he thought they should be identifiable.
Quote: What did you think about Robilard and Rary turning evil and all that?
GARY Balderdash made up by someone other than the creators of those PCs, so I think nothing of it at all.
Quote: Have you heard Rob Kuntz story on what really happened (It was a Robilar clone)?
GARY See above.
Quote: Another PC in a campaign with me got caught using weighted dice to roll stats yesterday. The worst cheating i ever saw. What would you do as Player or GM. ?
GARY I would tell him he was a childish cheat, and that there was no room for such foolishness in a gaming group for which I served as Game Master, so hit the road and don't come back.
Quote: Are you sick of seeing the Patriot win superbowls?
GARY Indeed, I was roting for the Colts to take the AFC, and for the Eagles in the Superbowl.
Quote: Were you ever approached to COME BACK or do something with D&D when wizards then Hasbro took over?
GARY No.
Quote: Do you still deal with Rob Kuntz, it would seem only proper that he have a hand in the NEW CASTLE ZAGIG.
GARY Yes, I am in communication with Rob. As for your observation, I concur, as it is far more work than I am willing to do.

Gary Gygax is a complete asshole. Anyone doubting this one bit should check out his treatment of a guy calling himself "Storm Raven" who wants to know what the purpose for level limits for demi-humans was ever for in-game terms.
Excerpts rfom his Q&A part 7 deep in there (10th?): Storm Raven: "On the other hand we have the rule "demi-humans can't advance beyond a certain level in any class other than thief" because . . . of nothing that can be expressed in internal terms. That makes the rule wholly arbitrary." Gary: "No, "we" is not applicable. I made that rule because it fitted logically with the other assumptions I had set forth in the game. All of the total balderdash was completely at my whim, thus wholly arbitrary. It is you who are trying to rationalize your whims. To make them valid you need to write a game system"
Storm Raven: "To my knowledge, no one has ever argued, for example, that Dwarves should not gain a Constitution bonus, because the reason they do is consistent with the background given for the race, and consistent with the mythological and literary background that the game draws upon. Level limits don't." Gary: "As I said before, get a life and forget about all this silly quibbling."
Gary: "That someone will spend hours, and thus pretty much require me to waste a good deal of time likewise, disputing about the potential of imaginary races in the game is testiment to its power to captivate the fancy of active minds."

Did Gary say "Get a life" My god man. Yeah, he is a real assclown. And to honest. None of his modules where that great. They were mostly monster bashes. And it is funny to me that all his characters were nuetral. Basically avoiding the implications alignment has on the game he created. I also started wondering when i began to consider that everone he ever worked with or for hated him. Fuck Gygax

We should offer to pay for his hotel room and food for a weekend. When he arrives with a hungry fat man belly we'll ninja swarm him and dunk him in the Hudson for an hour or two before he gets the point that he has to talk. After he does talk, we'll ignore him and tell him, "we don't talk to Gary Gygax, we play him" and leave him there to wonder how he could be treated so poorly when he is such a nice and wonderful person.
