Magic Items from The last word

Ok so I emailed you dudes your treasure. But the remaining shit that needs to be handled is here.



The three big evil items I left on there. Someone has to decide what to do with those. And Finally theres the spellbooks. I am assuming if Rezzle or Mergin want to learn spells out of these they will share. If that’s the case, look up how much it costs (its expensive) and minus that. Then email me with your Spellcraft check and I’ll tell you if learn it or not. Figure out who keeps the which spellbooks in the end. You can rip pages out too if you want split it up spell by spell.

So what happened to all the Invincible characters magic items?
Well lets be glad they did not have them on cause it would have been a bad day. The shit that was good enough for old Darwell to use was taken and recovered in your horde. The rest is back at Darwells base which is in some distant bizarre location. Remember Darwell had safehouses on many planes. Its interesting to note though that Darwell took all of Ramius’s shit. Including Ramius’s skeletal slave KOZAR. He too is among Darwells horde. So it seems funny to me to think that KOZAR, who got off to a bad start in the first module by asking for a pick of the treasure ends up with ALL THE TREASURE from the whole campaign.

Orb of Grave Mists
Always arcane caster the ability to lose a spell slot to cast Summon Undead 1-6, Control Undead, Create Undead, Greater Create Undead. The Keeper of the Orb may hold up to 40HD of undead in his service for a period of 1 Month. Any non-good creature touching the orb must make a fort save (DC20) or receive 4 negative levels.

Icon of the Spiderqueen:
Looks like a Small Cyrstal Spider. Acts a soul gem to hold the souls of up to 8 Individuals. Additionally Its allows any necromancer to control 3 times as many HD of Undead.
Note: This item was originally created by a Preistess of Lloth. Was later aquired and empowered by a Priestess of Kiaransalee.

Skull Scepter of Orcus
Looks like the Wand of Orcus. Proportedly crafted with a Shard of the true wand that was cast off during Orcus’s defeat at the hands of Kiaransalee.
+3 Unholy Anarchic Heavy Mace, Provides an additional +2 deflection bonus to its master. Once per day on a melee hit it may cast finger of death as a 15th level caster (DC20).

mordanthax wants all these items but the wand of orcus the most. these items must be locked away someplace safe so the tide of evil may never recover them .

Hey party people. I e=mailed Booth separately to try and work something out for the spellbooks. Hopefully that works out, I had assumed the guys that can't use spellbooks would not care? Has that changed?

Orb of Grave Mists was a campaign item we sought. Mergin thought he already found it once before, but he advises that it be returned to the church of Sir Jeffries in the Invincible Overlord's City-State. Mergin would rather not be the one deliver it, but can be talked into it.

Icon of the Spiderqueen Mergin has an interest in. Not for the item, but for its contents. The soul of Vald Grumdon I think is the murdered dwarf we abandoned the investigation into? He advises we return to town there and free the soul for the dwarf clan. Mergin is willing to do this solo or with people, he'd like to see that done. The other souls he really wants. Mergin is willing to either retain the item in the mausoleum where he met everyone or pay someone to transfer the souls into another soul gem or whatever can be interred with the bodies in the mausoleum.

Mergin fears the Orcus thing and wants no part of it.

Mergin also tells a story about a place where really bad things were once put to rest. He calls it the Banewarrens and is willing to take others there in case they are willing to put these nasty things in the ground somewhere.

The forks attuned to other planes are of great interest to Mergin. Yes, his PC portrait is the Gate Crasher from the Manual of the Planes and yes he walks around with a big keyring. He already has one for Scarn, but I don't think any of the others. Can he use a Fabricate spell to split one into two and then literally double these things? Is there a minimum size these things need to be or not? Any reason this can't work? If that's a problem, Mergin points out you found him once already before and he helped out, and that Mergin basically never goes anywhere. He's share these resources if ever needed from you guys. Just so long as he gets to talk your ears off and make you sandwiches. Mergin don't get out much.

OK, well basically I told Booth I was willing to share the spellbooks in their entirety.

Mergin would far prefer sharing the actual books and setting up study dates to get him some company every now and again, hopefully so that he does not become a statue again. Mergin is willing to open the mausoleum up as a rendez-vous point and points out how safely he can guard the books while still making them available. If that's is a problem, he's willing to meet Rezzle in another safehouse of his choosing for these exchanges. If these are all disagreeable terms and that meant paying to have the entire books copied, Mergin would be willing to share all costs equally. Mergin does has a sentimental attachment to the books and would like to end up with them on his bookshelf at the end of the day - especially the Vortis one. Mergin does not mind spending the next few years studying spells, guarding books, and meeting with all or part of the party to share the books. He assumes that they were bidden to him by Gilliam - since there are no remaining Madmen who knew the secreted location of his hideaway - and Gilliam's judgment goes a long way for Mergin.

Mergin also offers up sharing his own personal spellbook as a lure to try and push his spellbook sharing proposition put forth.

Also, Mergin proposes planeshifting to each of the planes mentioned in turn, collecting materials from those planes, and fabricating forks for whoever. He likes the idea of sightseeing and is willing to do this with someone to keep him company. He offers this trip to Labryth Lostmaker on the condition that he not adventure whilst on these materials collecting trips. Mergin offers to put collateral down to whoever does not believe that the dwarf will return with the requisite materials. He professes his good intentions and excitement about seeing some new planes. He guesses this would take a few weeks to accomplish if all goes according to plan.

Booth should be arround here soon. But assume you have access to both spellbooks for whatever. Until its settled. if Mergin can Planeshift then thats the right thing to do. Labrynth will go. You can just say you do this and I might just email you and say. Ok you did it. It was great. But something could happen. Remember just cause you cant play D&D does not mean D&D cannot play you. But yeah that would be my solution. Planeshift, find a town, buy enough material to make new forks and bounce.

[Mergin just keeps talking]

Mergin reitterates that he has no interest in the evil items for their evil purposes. He explains the tale of Sir Jeffries being turned dead by it and later restored by the graces of Waukeen. Mergin explains that the church was trying to locate the Orb so that they could remove it from evil hands. He hedges that perhaps whoever decides to take it would simply just take a few minutes to let Sir Jeffries’s church know that it was taken care of and show it to them as proof, Mergin would be very greatful and hopes that would mean that church could expend resources finding other evils to remove from the lands. Mergin suspects he cannot afford any soul gems. He fearfully asks what would become of the souls if they were all let loose from the Icon. He proposes trying with the murdered dwarf to see what would happen and he reitterates he would like to make that trip to explain to the dwarves who killed their clansman. Whatever the Orcus thing is, Mergin wants it... He wants it gone from his sight! He shakes his head and mutters something about the Banewarrens. Then he asks how someone goes about detroying evil things, because he's seen a whole bunch of it and never figured out how to destroy any of it. He proudly admits that he hid things completely off the planet before and chuckles to himself.

Mergin also forgot how much gold it costs to write spells. He is willing to break apart the necromancer’s spellbook, but not the Vortis spellbook. He proposes selling any spells that are not used by either caster for gold to use to learn more spells. There are many Mergin already knows or does not ever want, about half of the total spells available. He still really likes the idea of sharing them and spending time outside his hideaway. He now proposes that perhaps he should enroll in Core-Lock and Rezzle can find him there for use of the spellbook, if that is agreeable. In any event, Mergin is adamant that he would like the Vortis spellbook preserved in its entirety and that he craves it. Mergin is looking forward to any response from Rezzle. Mergin pokes him to make sure that he has not become a statue.
