Jim ward quoted his favorite character as "Ren of the Blade". I believe this is the head of the merchants guild in Greyhawk city.

Alas the head of the merchants guild in greyhawk city is Ren o' the star. Though he is unusually powerful a merchant. 14th level split class fighter mage. Could this be one in the same.
On a similar note. Skip said his favorite other character that not his was Eric Noah's Lothianite Paladin. Eric Noah is the creater of Enworld (i think). Lothian is one of Monte Cooks Home campaign gods. Could these charcters have been in one of monte campaiogns. You might remember the church of Lothian in Ptolus from the Banewarrens. Kalurescent was their Paladin.
Hmmmm.

All good.
But Eric Mona didn't start and run Enworld. Name of that dude is:Russell Morrissey a.k.a. Joe Blow the Anonymous and Unfamous (he didn't reply to the questionnaire either).
Also, I thought Cook lived with Reynolds but I could be wrong on that. They do obvisouly play together and influence each other.
Good shit on the Ren recall. You are DnD.

Ren of the Blade is an old greyhawk character. The protagonist of some of the first DnD books. A thief and adventurer. I could be wrong as my brain is as confusing as an chinesse librarian...a bong hittig fratboy in politics....fuck what was I saying. Oh yeah don't read any further or you might hurt your head..

Here's what I found on the Internet about our good friend Ren o' the Blade...... Runes & Ruins set, special abilities and all: Card #37, Rare, Ren O' the Blade, Level 7, Hero, FR: "Ren can be sent to the Abyss to retrieve a realm from the discard pile, placing it in the player's formation during Phase 2, instead of them playing a realm from their hand." Yeah, pretty useless...
Then I found... Pool of Radiance The spellcaster, Shal, seeks to avenge the death of her wizard master. The ranger thief, Ren, hunts the assassin who brutally murdered his beloved Tempest. The cleric, Tarl, prepareds for a confrontation with the undead.A possessed dragon commands the undead armies of Valhigen Graveyard and the beasts from the ruins of Phlan. Desperate, Shal, Ren, and Tarl join forces to deliver Phlan and the entire Moonsea from the dark possession of evil reincarnate . . . Tyranthraxus.
Written by James M. Ward and Jane Cooper Hong
Followed by... Pools of Darkness
The entire city of Phlan has vanished, ripped from the surface of Toril by dire creatures and magical forces. While the minions of the evil god Bane bicker over the spoils, the brave citizens of Phlan mount a stubborn defense.
A ranger-thief named Ren seeks his missing friends, Shal and Tarl, spellcasters nonpareil. Ren must band together with a mysterious sorceress, Evaine, and her intrepid shapeshifter cat, as well as a couple of droll druids and a fearful knight who is absolutely, positively dead.
Written by James M. Ward and Anne K. Brown
I guess Ren really is Jim Ward's main squeeze. Pools of Radiance is good stuff. I liked that before I ever knew anyone named Gault, Torres, or Ring. Back on my 286 IBM PC I played computer games for it. They sucked, but I loved that tihs. ;D

It appears theres was some confusion here. As is our way. Both me and ring thought he was greyhawk. But pool of radiance and its sequels (i think there is 3 novels and 1 module). The runes and Ruins i believe is a set of the card game called spellfire. Spellfire is a concept from forgotten realms where wizards use raw magic and stuff. With the success of some little known card game called magic the gathering many years ago TSR attempted to take this concept and make it into its own cardgame. Called spellfire the game. It sucked. As does spellfire in real D&D. I hate it all. I also saw mention of Ren o the blade as being called Ren o the blade from waterdeep. So i guess hes a forgotten realms character after all. Funny, pool of radiance is the only book mark boof ever read. There is no mysteriuos our team of dnd geeks cannot uncover with the enormous brain of Dave Buckenstein the berzerker.
