Q: I felt like both Vader and Windu were going to arrest their captives until they suddenly changed their minds. Wierd, Anakyn was totally down to go after the emperor but was shut down by Mace. However had Anakyn gone along I think he would have been cut down right quick like those other poor basterds. And that is some bullshit. But yeah, Mace Windu decides hes just gonna kill the emperor. Now very much it seemed to me that the basic morality and legal issues in that Star wars universe was just like ours of precent day. So much so that even the Queen of Naboo is actually a 4 year term elected official. Your supposed to arrest people. And at that point in the battle Mace Windu pretty much showed he could handle anything the Emperor threw at him. Concerning Mindfucks: So Buck suspects that the Emperor could have been using his mind powers the whole way through. To answer your question the Jedi absolutely have mind powers. They kindof establish that can make those of weak minds do as they want to some extent. Something like "Suggestion" in D&D. They have never showed a force weilder using it on another force weilder. But why not, the Emperor is the best force wielder ever. The emperor alone actual clouds the visionary abilitys of teh entire jedi council. This would work better for me too if the Emperor actually uses his mind powers to make Anakin cross over. As there simply was not enough there for Anakyn to relistically do that. Theres actually something there that almost indicates that. In the scene following the death of windu the Emperor tells Anakyn "The Jedi will next come for me and then the senate". Anakyn responds "I agree their next move will be against the senate". WHAT, no it wont. Thats not a realistic assumption. It seemed more like a mind trick to anakyn. Hes not defending the dark lord hes defending the senate of which his wife is a member. Maybe there something there. Question the nobility of the Jedi (especially Windu) Its funny cause the Emperor says "The jedi and the Sith are similar in almost everywat including their motivation to achieve power". Mace Windu while discussing the emeperor stepping down says "The Jedi will have to take control of the senate to ensure a peaceful transtion." Hes talking about seising control of a democracy. Yoda even realises this with his reponse "Down a dangerous path this takes us". One side we hear the Emperor giving Vader the kill order for Christopher Lee (who did a good job at trotting out and accepting his shamelssly small role). One the other hand, it was not until Vader entered the room that the "I am going to end this here" line is delivered. I thought that the Emperor played a mind-fuck role in both cases. Can't the force do that? Can't it also allow him to give Anakyn nightmares and mess with his head? I was getting that vibe, but I don't know any better. He was once fuilly organic but very little of that remains. When Obi Wan pulls oepn his chect plat you can see his organic internal organs encased in glass or something. But he was coughing which would make you think he breaths. I would say he was onyl on the exterior of the ship for a minute or two so he could have held his breath. This would leave only the mechanical safeguards required for protection against the vacuum of space. I though they did it well. We really dont see the kids killed. But we see the speratists leaders slaughtered. But one of those dudes needed to be cut down like a dog. I am talking about Nute Gunray leader of the trade federation. I think hes the one who tries to plead with anakin. This mother fucker is the one popping shit to the 12 year old queen amidala in episode 1 and then cheering as jedi are slain in episode 2.

My last post is histerical.
Anyhow, Just watched Ep 3 for 200th time. Noticed something else cool. The final scene of the film is Obi wan giving the lars family Luke. Now in this scene they went to great lengths to recreate the scene of Luke standing on the sand dune looking into the distance. The scene in EP 3 is precisely the same but with Owen Lars looking off. But the cool part was the symbolism of the scene that I missed the first 10 times i watch the film. The very last frame is them looking off into the sunrise as Tantootines 2 suns rise. The 2 suns as dawn. Birth of the twins and what is yet to come. Preatty cool I thought. Maybe this accident but i think not.
Something else i wanted to note was HOW DID OBI WAN beat Anakin. My conclusion was superior battlefield tactics. Watching the earlier movies Obi wan always employs these tactics. When they battle Darth Maul Obi wans first move is to flip over top to Flank Maul. Later Obi wan uses the head fake then allows Quigon to strike.
When Obi wan and Anakin first encounter Dooku, Obi wan tries to emply tactics by ordering Anakin to go in on the left.
The second time they fight Dooku Obi wans first move is a quick furious assualt which ends with Obi wan once again in flanking position.
You'll notice too Obi wan almost always fights backing up. I think this is his way of transversing ground in search of a superior position.
Anakyn might have 20,000 midichlorians but there just no substitute for good battlefield tactics. Plus Obi wan had the best training EVER learning from Yoda (the best) and Quigon (The Immortal).

My last post is histerical. Yes it was. ;D Another Q: what ever happened to the throng of girls that used to surround Natalie Portman? I thought I saw her body double at the end but she seemed to be alone the rest of the time without anymore servants. I wondered what the significance of that shot was, they clearly made an effort to do the suns in the distance shot. At the time I felt like it was forced and hitting you over the head with something we had already seen before, but in hindsight I would agree with Rob on that one. FYI, some people down here love the hell out of the thing. I started in with my "I don't know who Grievous is" stuff and was shut down with the "he has four sabers, who cares who he is" hard to argue with logic.

The throng of women surrounding Padme, Those were handmaidens. She only had them in Episode 1 when she was queen. After episode 1 she is only a senator. No props. Though she did use a double at beginning of episode 2 who i think was actually here sister. In episode 2 there was a whole sequence which features Padmes many sisters, but scene was cut out.
Concerning Quigon not appearing: I dont believe Quigon can manifest as luminous being. I think hes just a consiousness in space. Only Yoda through powerful mediatation was able to commune with him.

I'm most interested here in Mace Windu fighting the Emporer. One thing about this franchise is how they try to keep continuity throughout its various incarnations: Movies; cartoons, novels; comics; etc. Only after reading a novel did I know how bad ass, Mace's techniques were... Check it out - starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Form_VII:_Juyo_/_VaapadHe channels the dark side (from his opponent) without giving in to it... The novelization of the movie shows his inner thoughts...he felt he couldn't win against the Emporer, and therefore asked Anikan for help (but got cold-cocked). Interesting.

so we meet again xbones there is 7 different light sabre styles, mace being the only master of all 7. he was generally considered the best fencer of all jedi. the only jedi he will spar with was yoda and count duku who are sidered the next best, although after anakin got in dukus ass im sure that has change.

I came accross some of this shit too. Remember when Windu had the emperor pinned and the emperor was using the lightning but it was like Windu was deflecting it back on him. Thus giving the emperor his magled appearance for the later films.
Now i did not even know a lightsabre could block lightning till Obi wan does it against Dooku. I definatly did not think you could deflect it. But i read that because Windu actually channels the dark side to some degree he alone was able to take that lightning enegery and discharge back at the emperor. Preatty neat.
