This is the Iraq thread, right?
The pieces are in place for the foreseeable Civil War. Sadr the poorman's hero in the slums and Allawi the prime minister of a fragile government. Sadr pretends the Iraqis he kills are pawns of foreign occupiers and Allawi pretends Sadr is a lunatic without the support of the people. Of course Allawi is way more right, but we're not Iraqi and I bet many agree with the Sadr movement because they just don't know better. Where this leads should be interesting, but I hope it takes place off-camera and outside the realm of American politics. There is nothing partisan about wanting to sentence gangs making beheading videos to death. I have a feeling if Sadr has not been allied with them before, he may be now. Just because they share the opposition of the main government at large.
P.S. For anyone not aware Pete was last heard from appearing in Bahrain. It is in the Persian Gulf and is an island nation that processes mad mad mad mad oil. He is a Navy dude, so presumably he should be safer in the boats than others on the lands.
